Dear Turner family,

I live in the Port Streets with my family-of-five (including 3 now-teenaged daughters, if we count 11 thus). I don't know if it's too late for you to receice this message, but I'd like you to know that Patrick's life & final message have made me a little bit better of a person. I often find myself pondering the little I've heard of his story when I'm walking our dog, Nina, near the baseball fields. 

I wish our community could commemorate the positive influences he left behind in a bigger way somehow, without making anybody sad. I don't have any idea how to do that. It doesn't feel like it's my place.

Patrick, I read your moving letter about the pressures of school. I have been trying to wake parents up about this for years. Your letter has inspired me to begin a parent support group to talk about the increasing pressure children face in school thanks to the new educational standards which are totally unrealistic and not scientifically proven. Your message has been heard and I will do my best to bring your message to as many school administrators, teachers and legislators that I can. I have a son like you who loves his P.E. coach and just loves to hang out with family and friends. Well really he loves to play legos most of all, even though he is a teen. I'm going to keep him home from school tomorrow so he can just hang out with me and do his lessons by my side and play legos in between. You are right. Life is too short and we should really be focused on enjoying the moments rather than trying to impress people with our accomplishments. You have changed the minds of many though we wish it was not this way. You are a beautiful soul and your profound message will help to save the lives of many children and teens in the future. Patrick, I merely heard about your story this morning.   Best wishes with your Family moving forward.  Your notes are very precise and intelligent.  The World you have left behind is a smaller place as you would have made some great changes.

As a Christian father of three daughters and a retired educator, I cannot imagine your pain and sorrow! Your are in my thoughts and earnest prayers for comfort and possible understanding. Surely the loss of your dear Patrick is heart wrenching and will cause many soul-searching questions to arise, but I pray in the searching that God will comfort you and cause this experience to somehow be turned into a catalyst to improve the lives of our dear teenagers in this country! We dont know you, but we have a son Patrick's age, who lives 4 hours North of you. He too experiences the same pressures. He puts a lot on himself. We will use this to learn, have dialogue and I know Patrick's story will save others. You will be prayed for and thought of in the days to come. So deeply sorry for your loss.

What a beautiful smiling young man gone too soon. I drive by that field almost everyday and every time I do I will say a prayer for the family and friends as they grieve the loss of a beautiful boy. Dear Patrick-- your passing and your letter has so deeply moved me. I am a sophomore now at SDSU, and I remember so clearly the pressure I felt in high school to get "somewhere". I grew up in Orange County too. There were many beautiful things that also brought me great joy throughout those days, as did yours with baseball and football. It breaks my heart to know how much it affected you, when there are so many more wonderful things that can bring one so much joy. You remind me so much of my younger brother who is also a sophomore, and too now faces these same things. None of us as students should feel this way. I wish I could have known you, even if we had never met or even attended the same high school at the same time. I would have loved to have more people like you when I attended high school. So much kindness can go a long way. The things you did in your life will mean so much for others that come after you, even impacting the ones before you. I know they have for me. Your eloquence, your character, and your spirit will absolutely live on. May God bless you in heaven and the places you go, and may he bless your family too and bring them comfort in their time of need
