Roe grew up as an only child to her parents, James and Ella Ford, in Altadena, CA. James Ford was the founder of America Title Insurance. She graduated from Stanford Univ. in 1942. Moving back to Pasadena, she became a school teacher and a concert pianist. While at Stanford she met the love of her life, an Army Air Corp/Air Force cadet named Edward D. Edwards. They were married in April of 1944. For the next 34 years she was a dedicated Air Force wife stationed with Edward and family on Air Force bases from Brize Norton AFB England to Vandenberg AFB Calif. and some 15 Air Force bases in between. During the Air Force years she was always involved with social events and charities. She was a voluntary Air Force "Gray Nurse" while Edward became a Colonel, a base commander and the head of Strategic Air Command at Homestead Air Force base in Florida. By this time, she was also raising beloved daughter, Dana and son, Bradley. After Edward retired from the Air Force in 1968 they moved back to their Lido Island beach house in Newport Beach, CA. They resided permanently on Lido, where their RV & boating adventures were frequent, cruising the Pacific coast aboard the "Sea Flight" with family and friends. As a constant social host, Roe entertained and organized many events with local clubs such as the Pacific Philharmonic Symphony, Newport Harbor Yacht Club, Newport Country Club, to name a few.
