It is with sadness that we announce the passing of René Bollen on March 9, 2020. René was born on January 30, 1934 in Ans-Liege, Belgium to Jean and Marie. He was the oldest of 5 siblings. In 1961, René, his wife, Fanny, and daughter, Jeannine, packed their bags and moved to Southern California to pursue the American Dream. In 1963, they welcomed a second daughter, Christine, and their family was complete. René and Fanny were married for 47 years until she passed in 2004. He was the beloved "Papa" to his 5 grandchildren; Nicole, Katherine, Scott, Michelle, and Kevin as well as great grandfather to Russell and Weston. René was a devoted Catholic, passionate, hardworking family man, leading with quiet confidence as a father, friend, husband, grandfather, and neighbor. His passions included his beloved farm in Orange Park Acres where he lived peacefully for the last 16 years tending to his animals and spending time with his family every chance he could. René was a hero to some, a mentor to many and a dear friend to all throughout his 86 well-spent years of life. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Committal services will be private; his family is planning a Celebration of Life in the future, date and location are yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rene's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital, an organization held near and dear to René’s heart, using the link: http://giftfunds.stjude.org/ReneBollen
