Robert "Jeff" Jeffery Rives

Robert Jeffery Rives, age 34, passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2022 from complications associated with heart disease. He grew up in Long Beach, CA as the beloved son of Robert "Robbie" Rives and Rosemary Hernandez. In his younger years, he attended Fremont Elementary, Rogers Middle School, and Wilson High School.

While growing up, he was the ultimate athlete by participating in many sports including baseball, soccer, basketball, swimming, and water polo. Additionally, several summers were spent as a member of Long Beach Junior Lifeguards.

After high school, Jeff attended Chico State University and was an active member of Delta Psi Delta Fraternity. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from West Coast University in Irvine, CA. While attending nursing school, Jeff worked as an EMT. Ultimately, he became a registered nurse specializing in mental health.

Jeff was a devoted father to his handsome son, Austin Rives, age 11. Father and son enjoyed outdoor activities together such as camping and surfing. As a frequent traveler, Jeff never met a stranger. All who knew him benefitted from his easy-going manner, kindness, and humor.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father Robbie Rives, his grandfathers Jerry Rives and Ruben Hernandez, his grandmothers Katie Rives and Delia Hernandez, his aunt Carol Hernandez, and cousin Jack Rives.

He is survived by his mother Rosemary Hernandez, his son Austin Rives, his aunts Beth Rives Zelms, Anna Hernandez, and Adele Stephens, as well as uncles Jeff M. Rives, and James Hernandez. He will be deeply missed as a compassionate soul by his extended family including many cousins, friends, and co-workers.
