Robert John Vanian (Bob) went to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of April 6, 2026 in Newport Beach, California. Bob was born April 12, 1954 in Pasadena, California. He is survived by his mother, Mary Vanian, and his siblings, Linda Vanian Dyess, Douglas Vanian, and Christina Geeting, all residents of Newport Beach.
Bob grew up in Pasadena and moved with his family to Costa Mesa when Bob was in 8th grade. He graduated from Estancia High School and attended Biola University and then transferred to Westmont College. After graduating from college, Bob moved to San Diego where he resided for more than 40 years. He obtained a law degree and practiced law for a year. Unsatisfied with law as a career, he followed his life-long passion, fishing. He formed his own company, a fishing hot-line where he provided current information on where the fish were biting, what line and bait to use, and other useful information. He loved his job and performed it well.
After receiving a diagnosis of terminal cancer on December 24, 2025, Bob bravely fought the disease with all he had. He was strong, even in his weakness.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 11:00 am at The Chapel at Mariners Church, 5001 Newport Coast Drive, Irvine, CA 92603.
