Theodore (Ted) Ronald Litwiller passed away peacefully at his home in Laguna Niguel on April 13, 2018. He was 84 years old. His passing was attended by his loving wife, Margaret Jean (Margo) and other adoring family members.
Ted was born on November 7, 1933, to Carmen (nee Sampson) and Russell Litwiller in Seward, Nebraska. The family moved to southern California in 1942. Ted attended Chaffey High School where he was an acclaimed track star known as the "Fontana Flash." Ted's athletic prowess earned him a scholarship to UCLA. After college, Ted was inducted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1958. Upon return to civilian life, Ted became a licensed stock broker and financial advisor. He launched a successful professional career during which he acted as branch manager at Hayden, Stone & Co. in Palos Verdes. His career culminated in his being named Senior Vice President at Thomas Green Securities, Inc., a position he held until his retirement in 2012.
Ted and his first wife, Shelley Jones, were married on June 11, 1960. The couple had two children, Theodore Ronald Litwiller II and Lisa Litwiller. That marriage ended in 1974. In 1977, Ted reconnected with Margo, who would turn out to be love of his life. They were married on July 8, 1978 and enjoyed nearly forty years of marital bliss. The two were truly soul mates and adored one another in a way that was plain for all the world to see.
An avid private pilot, Ted loved flying friends and family members around southern California, especially to Catalina Island. He was an accomplished skier and a wicked poker player. A deeply spiritual man, Ted successfully battled cancer four times, always maintaining that God had a perfect plan. Although he ultimately succumbed to heart failure, he remained cheerful, charming and eternally optimistic until the end. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
Ted is survived by his wife, Margo, his son Ted, (Susan), his daughter, Lisa, his grandson Tyler, and his step children, Kari and Jeff as well as his nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park on May 12, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
