Agustin De La Rosa, 96, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, April 12, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born August 28, 1916 in Sarita, TX on the Kenedy Ranch to the late Manuel and Rosa De La Rosa. His life on earth was filled with devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was family gatherings at their home and being surrounded by those he loved. He enjoyed telling stories of growing up on the farm with his two sisters, his service in the military, and especially the times and travels with his family. He served his Lord every day and was a long-time member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Agustin proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Field Artillery Division from 1941 to 1945 and landed on the beaches of Normandy, France during the historic D-Day Invasion. Agustin's strong work ethic came out in his employment at Pan American and Trans Texas Airways, Brown and Root Construction, O & R Engine Repair and finally retiring after 31 years from the Corpus Christi Army Depot, Naval Air Station. Agustin was meticulous about how he lived his life and how he cared for his family, instilling in everyone the importance of strong Catholic values, a strong work ethic, compassion for those in need, living each day to its fullest, and exhibiting humility as practiced by his Lord.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Isabel De La Rosa; his dear grandson, David Andrew De La Rosa; his parents, and his sisters, Cruz Solis and Josefina Alcala.
He is survived by his sister, Maria Jesusa Cantu and his children: Cecilia Sosa (Arthur), Agustin De La Rosa Jr. (Amanda), Sylvia Guerrero (Adan), Carlos De La Rosa (Janida), and Velma Obregon (Henry). He will be missed by his grandchildren: Jacob Covarrubias (Tabitha) and Audrey Brewer (Ben), Carlos and Cristian De La Rosa, Nicolas and Benjamin Guerrero, Agustin De La Rosa III, Catalina and Angelique Obregon; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Caden Brewer, and Levi and Shaylin Umstead
