Agustin, (Chino, known to his family and many good friends) (Augie known to his many Colleagues) was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be remembered for always cherishing his wife and their children. Agustin was the patriarch in his family and resourcefully provided for them.
He worked with JC Penney Company for over forty years, initially working at the JC Penney’s Downtown Corpus Christi location and eventually transferring to the JC Penney’s at Padre Staples Mall. Agustin started in the Maintenance Department and promoted over the years to Manager of the Stock Room. He remained at JC Penney until his retirement. Agustin mentored many of his staff, one who eventually became a School Superintendent, Oil and Gas Executive, Police Officers, and professionals in other careers. When encountering many of his ex-employees, a usual comment was, “I’m thankful to Augie, he worked around my college schedule allowing me to complete my college education”.
During Christmas, besides decorating the Downtown JC Penney location, Agustin helped decorate Chapparal Street with beautiful festive decorations.
Agustin was very resourceful, always striving to provide the best for his family. On his Saturday’s off, he worked at Moody’s Meat Market. He made many good friends there and spoke often of the time he spent at Mr. Moody’s ranch with his co-workers.
Agustin is reunited with the love of his life, Rosie. Their love together lasted sixty-seven years, sadly Rosie passed way in October and Agustin on November 21, 2024, one day after what would’ve been there sixty seventh wedding anniversary. Together they were avid dancers making many memories over the years.
He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns Football Team. His home became a house divided after some of his grandchildren graduated from Texas A&M University. He enjoyed starting his day with a cup of coffee some pan dulce and watching the Price is Right. He enjoyed supporting all his grandchildren and great grandchildren at their extra-curricular activities, sports, dancing, and vacations.
