Alberto G. Castro was born on March 5, 1935 in Floresville, Texas, the son of Simon V. Castro and Juanita G. Castro. He grew up working on farmlands where he developed a strong work ethic and long-lasting perseverance. While he only attended school through the third grade, he joined the United States Army when he was twenty-three years old and eventually went on to pursue a career in sales, to which he dedicated himself for many years. While he had much success in his career, his greatest accomplishment was his family and the legacy he built.
A loving and devoted husband to Maria C. Castro, Alberto was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together they raised six children: Albert, Arturo, Alex, Abraham, Andrew, and Annette Castro. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and a wholehearted laugh. He treasured time spent with his family, especially at gatherings, celebrations, and holidays.
Alberto had many passions in life, including working in his yard at home, watching boxing on Saturday nights and football on Sunday afternoons. He was a devoted Christian and was steadfast in his faith, which he made sure to share with his children and grandchildren every chance he got. He was a proud member of Primera Iglesia Bautista, then Segunda Iglesia Bautista, and eventually Church Unlimited Rodd Field. He was known for his reverence and care for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his father, Simon V. Castro; mother, Juanita G. Castro; brothers, Oley Castro, Isidro Castro, Johnny Castro, Benito Castro; and sisters, Mary Jane Dodier, and Ernestina Dunn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maria C. Castro; children, Albert (Laureen) M. Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas, Arturo (Margie) M. Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas, Alex (Diana) M. Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas, Abraham (Bernice) M. Castro of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Andrew A. Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Annette M. Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas; 13 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mae Flores of College Station, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him deeply.
