Alicia Mendieta Ruiz

She has gone home to be with her Heavenly Father and to be with her Beloved Husband of 69 years.

She was born on August 22, 1923 in Realitos, Texas, to Alfredo and Mauricia Mendieta. Her family moved to Alice, Texas, where she met and married the love of her life and started their family. She and her husband made Corpus Christi, Texas, their home, where they raised their children.

Alicia was an amazing, loving, caring and compassionate wife, mother and grandmother. She was soft spoken, had a gentle touch, a great sense of humor, enjoyed watching her novelas, spending time and cooking for her family, and would make her famous “sarcita with bacon and tortillas” when she made breakfast for her loved ones.

Alicia was a very giving person, and was always there for any family member when they needed help. She would never turn anyone away.

We will carry the love she bestowed upon us in our hearts always. You will be missed, but never forgotten. We love you so very much.

Alicia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Luis M. Ruiz, mother and father, three sisters, two brothers and a great-grandson.

She is survived by her six children, Elma Soliz (Paul), Maria Elva Hernandez (Arnulfo), Mary Alice Maldonado (Juan), Dalia Medina, Luis Ruiz Jr. (Rosa), and Alfredo Ruiz; 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members.

The Ruiz Family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation to the staff of The Retama Nursing Home, The Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center, and Angel Bright Hospice for the care that was provided to our mother.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Chapel Service will be on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
