Amanda was born to Placido (deceased) and “Mary” Inocencia Pedroza on September 19, 1981, in McAllen, TX. Amanda is survived by her daughter-Emily Briana Rodriguez, and the Pedroza Family, brother-Samuel, sister-in-law-Jennifer, and nephew-Andre Pedroza.
My sister, as a young child, loved reading and was very creative. She loved dancing as a “Panderista,” (tambourine dancer), in her teenage years at our local church. Amanda graduated from PSJA North High School in 2000 and continued her education with South Texas College to obtain a Certificate in Child Development and Early Childhood, where she enjoyed working with infant and toddlers as a Daycare Provider for many years. She then extended her career working with families, (children and parents), as a Nutrition Associate for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services-Food and Nutrition Education Program. She taught parents and teens how to prepare and cook healthy-choice foods throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Amanda loved family camping trips, barbecues, and our amazing trips to Laredo, TX to be with our extended Gomez Family. She cherished special moments at the beach with her two girls, Emily and Nova. She always valued the great pleasures of having fun and laughter with her friends. In saying that, I want to acknowledge Amanda’s friend Luisa that stood by her and was incredibly important and supportive of her during the tough times when Amanda was battling illness. Thank you, Luisa, my mom, and I are forever grateful for your support.
My sister joins our dad in Heaven and Amanda’s love will continue living in our hearts. Thank you all for your support and sentiments during this time. We are working on plans to celebrate Amanda’s life with a gathering and will update family and friends with that info as soon as we have it.
