Angela Dewberry, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, departed this life on March 24, 2026, and went to be with her first true loves—her parents, Johnnie Wilson and Ruthie Mae Wilson—who had been patiently waiting to welcome her home.
Angela Dewberry was born on July 21, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, to Ruthie Mae Hornage and Johnnie Wilson. She grew up in Dallas, where she graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School in 1982. She went on to attend Tyler Junior College, graduating in 1984 with an associate degree in finance and accounting.
Following graduation, Angela became a civil servant, working for the federal government, from which she later retired. In January 1985, she married the love of her life, Anthony Dewberry. From this union, two daughters were born: Brittney Shakenya Dewberry Mitchell and Chasity Lauren Dewberry Smith. Together, they raised their children with love, care, and devotion.
Angela leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Anthony Dewberry; her daughters, Brittney Mitchell (Albert, also known as Mitch) and Chasity Smith; her brother, Reginald N. Wilson (Carlous). She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren, Ayasia Smith, Zhaniya Mitchell, Brooklynn Smith, and Camron Mitchell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
Angela found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments—running errands, shopping with her daughters and grandchildren, and sharing laughter along the way. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting the commissary grocery store to see her oldest grandchild. Though she often said she was going shopping, those who knew her best understood she was really there to share a smile and spend time with someone she loved.
Her kindness, sense of humor, and the special way she made each person feel valued and loved will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the beautiful memories she created and the love she leaves behind.
Angela will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
