

Mr. Duenes served in the United States Air Force and received the National Defense Service Medal of Honor. He received an Honorable Discharge and was a lifelong patriot. Mr. Duenes was a master carpenter and built custom cabinets for many years both in Corpus Christi and Houston, TX and after retirement continued to work in residential construction/remodeling. He grew up in Edinburg, TX before his family relocated to Odem, TX. Mr. Duenes attended Pan American College in Edinburg, TX, now known as The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He majored in Business.
Mr. Duenes is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Galvan Duenes and Olivia Martinez Duenes, his wife, Maria Guerrero Duenes, his son, Arturo Duenes, Jr., and his sister, Alicia Jimenez.
He is survived by his son, Sergio Duenes from Corpus Christi, TX, son, Juan Duenes from Houston, TX as well as his daughters, Thelma Zamora (Arturo) from Houston, TX and Theresa Morin from Corpus Christi, TX. Mr. Duenes was a loving grandfather to his 9 grandchildren, Brian “Rocky” Duenes, Daisy Duenes, Evette Chavez, Bonnie Melchor, Amanda Vasquez, Emily Zamora, Joshua Zamora, Jennifer Morin, Ernest Morin and 9 great grandchildren. He has 6 living siblings, Rebecca Robles (84) of Corpus Christi, TX, Elva Mendoza (82) of Papalote, TX , Alfredo Duenes, (79) of Corpus Christi, TX, Raquel Spielberger (77) of Fernley, NV, Juan Jose Duenes (71) of Papalote, TX, and Norma Duenes (69) of Odem, TX.
A viewing will take place at Del Angel Memorial Holly in Corpus Christi, Texas on Wednesday, June 9, from 12:00-1:30PM. The Rosary will be recited on the same date at 2:00PM with services immediately following. The Burial Services to begin at 3:00PM at Memory Gardens 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi.
