

She was born in Victoria, TX to Mariano and Julia Garcia. The family later moved to Corpus Christi and raised their children there.
Mom graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1945 and married her high school sweetheart, John L. Mondragon in December of that year. She was a housewife until 1975 when she was employed by CCISD at Fraser Elementary School where she worked for ten years as part of the cafeteria staff.
She attended Kelsey Memorial United Methodist Church for over 20 years, and loved all the special church events. Her favorite was the UMM Valentine’s Day social. She also had a passion for bingo and enjoyed her time at Garden Senior Center as well.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Robert Mondragon and great grandson, Markee Hamauei; brothers, Mariano, Pete and Tony Garcia and sisters, Gloria Godoy and Julia Alaniz.
She is survived by her children Ronnie (Gloria), Tony (Julie), Michael (Nicky) Mondragon; Terry (Joey) Harlien, Debbie (Bobby) Alvarado and daughter-in-law Mary Jane Mondragon; grandchildren Shauna (Ian) Mondragon, Erika Mondragon, Stephanie (Chris) Harlien, Jennifer L. Mondragon, Joshua M. Mondragon, Laura J. (Rob) Goodison, Michelle (Wes) Dobbins, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Groff, Belinda (Justin) Slone, Melissa (Ian) Arvidson and great grandchildren, Xavier Taylor, Madeleine Jones, Leila and Tahlia Dobbins, Dane and Holly Arvidson, Jackson Robert Slone and Abigail Goodison.
A memorial service will be held May 13 at Kelsey Memorial UMC, 1610 Comanche St., Corpus Christi, TX at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Tarver officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. A reception hosted by the UMW will follow the service at the church’s Educational Building.
The family would like to thank Pastor John Fletcher and church family for their continued prayers during mom’s homebound years; thanks to Corpus Christi Hospice for taking wonderful and loving care of our mom at home during her illness and a very special thanks to our sisters Debbie and Terry and brother-in-law Bobby for their commitment in providing mom with the best care throughout her last few years of life. We also want to thank Funeraria Del Angel for their guidance.
