Belton Dwane Sorenson

Belton Dwane Sorenson, age 88, of Katy, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 11, 2017. Dwane was a loving husband and father, leaving behind his cherished wife, Mildred, of 67-years, and his three children, Richard (Donna) Sorenson of El Paso, Texas, Susan (Ron) Gerhards of Richmond, Texas, and Troy (Darla) Sorenson of Doss, Texas, as well as six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Minnie Ball (Victoria, Texas), and brother, Larry (Norma) Sorenson (Dallas, Texas), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bessie Sorenson, and siblings Marie Corley, Edwin Sorenson, and Vernell Cheatham.

Dwane was born on August 25, 1928 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He and his wife, Mildred, made their home in Corpus Christi from 1950 until 2016 when they moved to an independent living community in Katy, Texas. Dwane retired as Command Sergeant Major from the United States Army in 1988. He was a true patriot giving service to his country for 33 years, first as a United States Marine, and then later, in the United States Army. Dwane was a devoted Christian and very active in Shepherd’s Way Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at Cage-Mills on Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at Cage-Mills Chapel on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 11:00 A.M., with interment at 1:00 P.M. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. Rev. Armando Torralva will officiate.
