CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – CECIL LEE DAVENPORT passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018. He was 81 years old. Cecil was born on December 17, 1936 to Louis Davenport and Lenora Brown in Jarrell, TX. He grew up in Waco, TX and Abilene, TX. Cecil enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. at age 18. He then married Doris, his wife of 42 years on May 13, 1976. Cecil worked for the City of Corpus Christi for 32 years. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, and making people laugh. Cecil will always be remembered for his love of laughter, talent for trouble, his warped sense of humor, his devotion to his friends and family, and his love of fishing. His favorite motto was “If a little bit does a little bit of good, then a whole lot oughta really get the job done”.
Cecil is preceded in death by brother: Louis Davenport, & Sister: Gladys Finley. He is survived by his wife: Doris Davenport, Sister: Edna Dallas, Daughter: Wanda Walker, Son: Bobby Morgan, grandson: J.C. Attaway, great-grandson: J.R. Attaway.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors. Funeral Service is Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Chapel followed by burial at Rosehill Memorial Cemetery at 11:30.
