

Cecilia Paz, also known as Wela, entered into her eternal rest with the Lord on March 20, 2026 at the age of 98. She was born on August 7, 1927 to parents, Josefa Cervantes and Anastacio Barbosa in Doole, Texas. She was a woman of deep faith, love, and devotion to her family. She found great joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life, especially those spent caring for others.
Cecilia had a true gift for cooking and sewing. In the kitchen, she was known for her delicious homemade tortillas and her unforgettable tamales, which many considered the very best in the family. She took great pride in her cooking and made it a point to share her knowledge, ensuring her traditions would live on. Her talent for sewing was just as remarkable. Cecilia lovingly taught each of her daughters how to sew, passing down not only a skill but a legacy. Through her guidance, her daughters followed in her footsteps, becoming seamstresses themselves—a testament to her patience, dedication, and passion.
Above all, Cecilia was a woman of strong and unwavering faith. She was a devoted member of Primera Asamblea de Dios Church for 56 years, where she faithfully attended services and built a strong spiritual community. She often shared stories of her upbringing and could frequently be heard singing her favorite church hymns, reflecting the joy and comfort her faith brought her throughout her life.
She will be reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Jesus Paz; daughters, Maria Magdalena Paz, Irma Paz Rodriguez, Herlinda Paz Zaragosa, and Gloria Paz Moya. Granddaughter, Elizabeth Martinez, parents, Josefa and Anastacio Barbosa; and siblings, Alicia Barbosa and Isaias Barbosa.
Her memory will forever live in her son, Jesus Paz Sr. Sister, Maria Barbosa, and brothers, Anastacio Paz Jr., and Daniel Barbosa. Her memory will forever also live in her 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 72 great-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Cecilia will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her unwavering devotion, and the love she poured into everything she did.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Funeraria Del Angel on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 beginning at 10:00 am with the interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
