

Charles “Buddy” George Herin, age 61 went to be with our Lord on November 1, 2013 with his beloved family by his side. He was born in Ganada, TX to Charles and Helen Herin and was raised in Edna, TX until the age of 8. The family later moved to Lake Charles for a short time and then to Corpus Christi, TX for remaining years where he attended Tom Browne Jr. High and graduated from Mary Carroll HS in 1970. At age 27 Buddy bought the Contractors Building Supply Co. and started with 3 full time employees and 1 part time employee; currently Buddy has built the business into 5 Texas locations with 98 employees. Buddy loved to gather with friends, family. Played like a “kid at heart” with the grandchildren. Never met a stranger. He enjoyed restoring classic cars which he had many of and he always said, “Everything must be American made or MADE IN THE USA.” Buddy was always ready to get up and go, so owning his own plane and being a pilot loved to fly family and friends on many cross county trips. He never was too far to enjoy the things he enjoyed to do. Enjoyed golfing was a member the Corpus Christi Country Club “Hammernation” Golf group, which he was longtime member. Buddy regularly played in Corpus Christi with this group and traveled (several times as Pilot) with the group to golf in various locations across the USA. He was a strong supporter of the San Antonio Spurs and Texas A&M Islanders. Buddy enjoyed snow skiing and water skiing basically loved life and loved to travel “Always ready to get up and go”. Mostly enjoyed sharing all his travels and adventures with his wife Nova. He restored and sold a 67’ Corvette L88 @ The Mecum Auction in Dallas TX in September 2013 for the highest price ever paid for a Corvette in an Auction. He was a strong believer in giving back to others and helping medical research at MD Anderson. He was saved and baptized while attending The Gardendale Baptist Church. He has been a member of River Hills Baptist Church while living in Calallen, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter Jennifer Herin-Selvester.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Nova Herin; son, Jason (April) Herin; daughters, Stephanie Ashley, and Elysia Herin; sister, Linda Husbands; brothers, Lynn (Donnetta) Herin and Pat (Amy) Nolan; grandchildren Noah Herin, Caroline Herin, Bailey Selvester, Avery Ashley, Joshua Selvester, and Caleb Selvester. Also survived by numerous relatives, his nieces and nephews Michael Husbands, Ryan Nolan, Megan Nolan, Katherine Herin, Rochelle Herin and April Herin and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8th 2013 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., beginning from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 9th 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the River Hills Baptist Church located at 16318 FM 624, Robstown, TX 78380; Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
