

Christine “Memo” Provencio Corral passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born on June 17, 1934 in Mesilla Park, New Mexico to Gabriel Fresquez Provencio and Beatrice Banegas Provencio. She was raised in Las Cruces, NM and she graduated from Las Cruces High School. Christine went on to attend Del Mar College and Corpus Christi State University (present day TAMU-CC). She graduated with a Bachelor's degree (B.Ed.) and Master’s degree (M.A.) in Education.
Christine had a career in education as a special education teacher at Club Estates Elementary and as a substitute teacher for the Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) for over thirty years. She provided compassionate care and guidance to children with special needs and had many beloved students that adored her deeply. Christine had a passion for taking care of her loved ones, connecting with her loved ones and friends through conversations, food, dancing, singing, bowling and sports, and relaxing outdoors in any yard or patio. She was a devout Catholic who loved attending mass and praying her rosary.
Christine loved celebrating the precious moments of life with those around her. She was most known for being the vibrant and loving matriarch of her family and for having the brightest spirit and smile. She was always the life of any party! Christine was very stylish and she never left the house without her lipstick and purse. Favorite memories with Christine include enthusiastically watching Spurs games, preparing and sharing traditional New Mexican recipes, and attending Catholic mass. Christine had a generous and loving heart and her legacy lives on through her family and with those she crossed paths with.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Banegas Provencio; and her father, Gabriel Fresquez Provencio; brothers, Henry B. Provencio, Walter Provencio, Sammy Provencio, Roy Provencio, and Charles Provencio; sisters, Lucy Provencio and Amy Gamboa; grandson, Ruben Rossette; Granddaughter, Pauline Monreal; and Chuy - her furry companion.
Christine is survived by her children, Priscilla Aguirre (Rudy), Sylvia Perez (Mario), Rudy O. Corral (Dora), Alicia Clayton (Richard “RC”); sister, Josie Alvillar of Las Cruces, NM; and numerous cherished grandchildren (10), great-grandchildren (12), and great-great-grandchildren (3), as well numerous nieces and nephews.
A very special thanks and blessings to the nurses and all of the staff from New Century Hospice and to Christine’s senior companion, Dolores Ballin. We are immensely grateful for the thorough and kind care and support for Christine in her final years at home. Christine was cared for with compassion and gentility from the entire support team and for this we owe our sincerest gratitude and many thanks. We would like to give a heartfelt and genuine thank you to Christine’s friend of over forty years, Gloria Dillard. Gloria was a supportive and gracious friend of Christine's and she was always there for her. Our sincerest gratitude to Gloria Dillard.

A public visitation for Christine will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 with a holy rosary at 7:00 PM. Continued visitation will occur Friday, July 25, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Dr, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412 with a funeral mass beginning at 9:30 AM. A rite of committal and interment will occur Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
