It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cosme Cavazos, affectionately known as Popo, at the age of 67. He was born in Laredo, Texas, and was a cherished father, husband, and friend. After 40 years of marriage, his family remains a testament to the love and devotion he gave.
In his younger years, Cosme worked at Champs Sports, but in 1996, he turned his passion into a successful business when he became the proud owner of Cosway Bait and Tackle. His love for the outdoors and fishing was central to his life, and he took great pride in sharing that passion with others.
Cosme had many hobbies that brought joy to those around him. He was an accomplished BBQ enthusiast and a master in the kitchen, with steak being one of his favorite meals to prepare. His love of sports was evident, as he could often be found watching games with friends and family. He especially relished watching his grandchildren play sports, always cheering them on with enthusiasm.
A true adventurer at heart, Cosme enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, having visited destinations such as England, California, Virginia Beach, New Orleans, Colorado, and many more. He also cherished good camping trips and the simple pleasures of the outdoors.
A lifelong Cowboys fan, Cosme was never far from the action when it came to watching football, basketball, or baseball games. His love for sports was matched only by his generous spirit and infectious sense of humor. Known for his playful nature, Cosme was always quick with a joke, and his laughter was a source of warmth for all who knew him.
Cosme’s smile, jokes, and generous heart will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Cavazos; his numerous cherished grandchildren; two adored great-grandchildren; his brother, Horacio Cavazos (Mary); and his sisters, Sandra Ayala (Sam) and Claudia Cavazos.
