He was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on September 1, 1948. Doyle Harris graduated from Stilwell High School and received a B.S. in Business from Parks College.
He was married to Julia Flores Harris on January 16, 1970.
Doyle was a family man and his world sure did revolve around his family. Doyle loved spending time with his grandchildren and telling stories about his childhood memories, travels and family time. His loved ones will surely miss him and hold on to the treasured memories. He looked forward to family members’ special occasions such as the Holy Sacraments, birthdays, graduations and weddings.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends as well. There were no strangers for him. He could pick up a conversation with just about anyone whether he knew them or not. He was an exceptionally friendly and kind man.
A precious memory of his wife Julie is how he loved to surprise her with sweet, thoughtful and heartfelt gifts and gestures. She will always hold dearly in her heart how he arranged to surprise her with a vow renewal at one of their favorite churches, The Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle on their 25th Wedding Anniversary.
Doyle Harris proudly served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard, and earned the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in 1989. He had a distinguished career with the Coast Guard for 22 years. He finally retired after his military career and worked with the VA in Corpus Christi.
He was a member of OLPH and St. Pius X Catholic Church and he had a passion for working in church ministries, helping veterans and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Thomas and Desta Harris; sister, Eula Harris (Sulivan); brothers, Lewis, David, Joe and Howard Harris; father and mother-in-law, Esequiel and Guadalupe Flores.
He is survived by Julia Harris, his loving wife of 50 years; children, Owen Harris and James Harris (Jennifer); grandchildren, Mason, Jonah and Evan Harris; siblings, Alma Harris (Hodge), Nina Harris (Luce), Sue Harris (Ball); Brothers, Ray and Richard Harris (Rebecca); sister-in-laws, Josie Harris, Carolyn Harris, Ruby Harris, Alysia Guajardo, Maria Chapa, Clara Hernandez and Inocensia Dawson (Michael); brother-in-laws, Larry Flores (Yolanda) and Alfredo Flores (Diane); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 8:30 a.m., at Funeraria del Angel Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5620 Gollihar Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the Rosary, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Pius X. Interment will follow at Aransas Memorial Park 1520 Hwy 188, Rockport, Texas 78382."
