
Edward was born in Corpus Christi on January 20th, 1971. He obtained his GED then attended Del Mar College to pursue a career as a paralegal. He needed one more class before graduating, but he pursued a career in the United States Army instead.
After Edward served his time honorably he worked at the Ginger Cafe. He would always spend his time working or with his 2 sons, he never had time for anything else.
Edward loved cycling, shopping, and was a culinary enthusiast, he loved to watch sports on TV and was always well informed with the politics. He also enjoyed drinking a beer with his kids at the end of the day.
Edward was a loving father always leading by example, he was brave and loved his kids unconditionally. He was also a wonderful husband. The companionship they had, he would call her every morning for 20 years straight, never missing a date. They would go on long drives 3 to 5 times a week, shopping 3 to 4 times a week at Walmart or H.E.B, and they would always go out to eat at restaurants.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aurora Garcia and David Zamora.
His legacy continues on with his parents, Olga G. Ruiz and Rene S. Ruiz, his children Edward Ean Rene Ortiz and Edward Austin James Ortiz. His siblings Pauline M. Gonzalez, Gilbert Ortiz III, James Eddie Ortiz, and Yvette R. Ruiz.
The family would like to thank everyone and each other for coming together at this difficult time, and also like to thank the staff at Memory Gardens for their compassion.
