In October 1971, Esmeralda married the love of her life, Genaro Munguia, and together they built a beautiful life filled with family, laughter, and countless memories. Esmeralda had a passion for traveling, enjoying margaritas, and taking drives to the beach. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was the heart of every gathering, the one who went above and beyond for everyone she met. Known as the life of the party, Esmeralda brought joy wherever she went. She often reminded her loved ones, “When I pass away, don’t cry for me. Celebrate me with a party, margaritas, and talking about the memories we made.”
Esmeralda was most known as the glue of her family. She could talk to anyone, and through her warmth and kindness, she created lifelong friendships that became family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Jesusa Vargas, along with numerous beloved family members.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Gina (Charles) Brambila, Veronica Munguia (Edward James), and Genaro (Vanessa) Munguia. She is also survived by her siblings: Mary Jane (Noe) Buentello, Rosa Vargas, Able (Deidre Hall) Vargas, and Alfonso (Cynthia) Vargas. Esmeralda’s legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her spirit forward.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff who showed compassion and empathy during her journey with cancer.
To honor Esmeralda’s wishes and celebrate her vibrant life, the family asks that those attending her funeral please wear red—her favorite color to symbolize her fiery spirit and enduring love.
