Gil graduated from Marfa High School in 1976 and later attended Odessa College and Alvin Community College.
He had a deep love for music, especially classic rock, and enjoyed singing and playing guitar. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, Gil also loved spending time at the beach, watching the waves. He was known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and being a great listener who always had advice to share.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gil is survived by his children, Eddie Quintela and Dee Dee Quintela; many beloved grandchildren; and his siblings, Michael Quintela, Linda Langford, and Marie.
A visitation for Gilbert will be held Monday, June 2, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Corpus Christi, 549 Cheyenne St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405. Following the visitation will be a holy rosary at 11:30 AM. Burial at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery will follow at 1:00 PM.
