

GUADALUPE J. BARRERA, age 83, left to be with the Lord while surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 22, 2010. He was born to Pablo Barrera and Edubijes Cantu on March 18, 1927 in Gonzales, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jacob Barrera.
Guadalupe was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He lived a very fulfilling and blessed life with his family. Lupe served in the United States Army during World War II. He was the proud business owner of Bee Electric and he was known as “Mr. B”. He pursued the opportunity to become a Master Electrician, and furthered his career by becoming an Electrical Inspector for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas for 20 years. Grandpa Lupe’s next venture in life was to retire to spend time with his loving wife, Grandma Lupe, and family. He always looked forward to being surrounded by his sons (3), daughters (2), grandchildren (17), great-grandchildren (10) and friends. Grandpa would always end a visit by saying “Thank you for coming”. He will be missed for his wonderful sense of humor, generosity and unfailing love of family and friends. Dad’s greatest passion was being outdoors as he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Guadalupe Del Llano Barrera; brothers: Pablo (Irene) Garcia, Arnulfo Garcia; sister: Gloria Barrera; sons: Arnold (Virginia) Barrera, Mario Barrera, Michael (Rosie) Barrera; daughters: Norma (David) Trevino, Anna (Arthur) Gonzalez; seventeen grandchildren: Luke (Christina) Barrera, Mario Ray (Yvette) Barrera, Michael Barrera, Abel (Rebecca) Trevino, Kathryn (Alejandro) Cruz, Joseph (Amy) Barrera, Angela Barrera, Matthew (Christina) Trevino, Alexis (Callie) Trevino, Heather (J.B.) Molina, Arthur (Monica) Gonzalez, Amy (Daniel) Hill, Martin Barrera, Marisa Barrera, Madison Barrera, Kendall Barrera; ten great-grandchildren: Melanie, Clarissa, Emily Rose, and Benjamin Barrera, Mia Alexa Trevino, Christian and Makayela Cruz, Ryan Joseph Barrera, Anna Ellen Trevino, and Mia Elise Hill.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at VistaCare Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 with a Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at Seaside Memorial Park.
