

He had a passion for fishing, watching his favorite shows, playing pool, smoking cigars, cheering on his beloved Seattle Seahawks, and most of all, spending time with family.
Lupe was known for his honesty and straightforward nature, he always said what he meant and meant what he said. You were never left wondering where you stood with him, and those who loved him will remember his genuine spirit and true-to-his-word character.
He is survived by his loving life partner of 25 years, Laura Ortiz; and his former wife of 34 years, Yolanda Perez. He leaves behind two sons, Israel (Letty) and Lupe Jr. (Carrie). He is also survived by his stepchildren, Laura Janette Ortiz (Roy Cortinas), Monique Ortiz, Oscar Ortiz Jr. (Jessica), Janelle Alemen, and Oscar Jose Ortiz; grandchildren, Christina, Israel Jr., and Tamrich Perez (Emily), Armando Sanchez, Paityn Perez, Isaac Gamez, Abigail, Aleaha, and Ayden Ortiz, Devinn Hernandez, Dravinn Ortiz, Landen Mora, Emelia Estrada, and Leilani Jade Gamez; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Peterson, Noah and Heaven Valencia, Romeo Ripley, Kaia, Cash and Benny Perez, Josiah and Gabriel Sanchez, Amaris Dominguez, Lorenzo Dominguez, Axailia Lino-Perez, and Sebastian and Kairo Ortiz; sisters, Ofelia Rodriguez and Janie Martinez; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucia G. Hernandez; stepfather, Eliseo G. Hernandez Sr.; and brother, Eliseo Hernandez Jr.
Family meant everything to Lupe, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he helped raise, love, and support, both by blood and by bond.
A public visitation for Guadalupe will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
