John H. Reed

John Henry Reed passed away at the age of 78 on September 30, 2012. He was born May 06, 1934 to John and Jenny Lee Reed in Greenville, Mississippi. John moved to Corpus Christi, Texas when he was 19 years old and later married Massline Tasby in 1961. John was a loving and faithful husband and father completely dedicated to providing for his wife and children. John worked for the Corpus Christi Park City and Maintenance for 15 years and retired in 1991. He has been a long time member of Rising Star Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board for 31 years. He was truly a faithful servant and awesome man of God. He is survived by his two loving daughters; Isabel (Austin) Coleman of Corpus Christi, Texas and Tallula Lewis of Fort Worth, Texas, four grandsons; Brain Bullock, Austin Coleman Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kevin Lewis Jr. and Devin Lewis of Fort Worth, Texas, one granddaughter; Tamara Tasby of Corpus Christi, Texas, two great-granddaughters; Mykia Bullock, and Brianna Tates, and one great grandson; Zacchaeus Tates, along with numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Jenny Lee Reed, father John Henry Reed, his loving wife of 51 years Massline Tasby Reed, five sisters and nine brothers. The family will be receiving friends at Funeraria del Angel on Friday, October 05, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a wake at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Rising Star Baptist Church, 3502 Holly Rd. on Saturday, October 06 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
