After retirement, he moved to the Annaville area and joined Annaville Baptist Church. Johnnie became an active member of the Deacon Body and led Bible Studies for many years. He was known by many to be a prayer warrior and loved his church family dearly. Through the years his family grew with 13 grandchildren, 20 great grand-children, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
