

Jose attended Tuloso-Midway High School and completed his education through the 10th grade. On May 4, 1964, he married Gloria Dolores Flores in Nueces County.
Jose dedicated his career to the trucking and transportation industry, working for Mission Petroleum, Empire, and Bazan Trucking Company. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to provide through many years of hard work.
A proud veteran, Jose served his country during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the American Legion for many years.
In his earlier years, Jose enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He especially liked fishing for alligator gar, black drum, and redfish. He also enjoyed music, dancing, and socializing with friends. He was known by the nickname “Cowboy,” a name that reflected his signature style, as he was almost always seen dressed in cowboy attire.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Catalina Soto and Encarnacion Soto Sr.; his brothers, Eduardo Soto and Encarnacion Soto Jr.; his sister, Enedina Soto Ramirez; his son, David Espinosa; his wife, Gloria Dolores Flores; and his longtime partner, Josie Espinosa.
He is survived by his children: Joe Lopez II (Tracy Lopez), Ebilia Lopez Delapaz (Ricky Delapaz), Linda Lopez, Gloria Figueroa, Catalina Ceballos, Pete Espinosa (Misty Espinosa), and Joe Espinosa (Laura Espinosa). He is also survived by his siblings: Diana Perez (George Perez), David Soto (Jovita Hernandez), and Linda Soto-Reyes (Angel Reyes).
He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
