With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Juanita Gonzalez Espinoza, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, friend, and avid Texas Lottery scratch-off ticket player, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, after a long and fruitful life at the age of 94, at home surrounded by her family. Juanita requested an intimate funeral and burial alongside her husband.
A loving mother and homemaker, Juanita was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. Juanita was born in Cerralvo, Nuevo León, Mexico on February 19, 1928, to Juanita Barrera Gonzalez and Genovevo Gonzalez, the youngest of 14 siblings “el pilón de la familia”.
Juanita was predeceased by her loving husband of 36 years, Crispin T. Espinoza; and two granddaughters, Maria Teresa, and RoseMarie T.
They were parents to three rambunctious children that kept her on her toes. With a strict hand, sharp wit, love, ingenuity, and with the help of a whole slew of nuns from the Cathedral Catholic School raised the Espinoza trio out of adolescence.
The trio went into the world, ready to leave their mark and form their own families. It was inevitable that their children would be just as much of a handful as their grandmother, and the great-grandchildren are not far behind.
Survivors include her three children, son, Ricardo E. and wife Maria, son, Roberto E., and daughter, Diana L. and husband, Orval; grandchildren, Juanita “Jen” C. and husband, Chad, AnneMarie E., Martha E., Marco E., Ricardo E. and wife, Mary, Juan E. and husband, Mario, Craig T. (RoseMarie’s husband); great-grandchildren, Sarah, Tobias, Kameron, Nathan, Charli, Sabrina, Aeden, and Penelope.
Our family wishes to thank the healthcare professionals and the emotional support team that played a vital role in Juanita’s life, Dr. Socrates Garrigos, Alyssa Sanchez, FNP-BC, Rev. Rick Reyes, Rev. Becky Reyes, Rev. Javier Sanchez, the staff of OpusCare of Texas, Deacon Marco, Shira T. (Jake T.), Dr. Liz Molina and Jack and Maria S. Her care provider, Albilda Z., who lovingly cared for her by making her life more cheerful and enjoyable. We give them and everyone else who cared for Juanita our greatest and warmest gratitude.
