

Leonor Pro Meza, daughter of the late Miguel Pro Sr. and Leonor Casteneda Pro, was born on June 24, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas and died peacefully at her son’s home in Port Isabel, Texas Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 9:45 a.m.
She was the wife of Gilberto Nieves Meza for 46 years. Mrs. Meza was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her eight children, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was proud of her children. She loved her home at “The Ranch” in Woodsboro and her second home in Port Isabel, Texas. She donated to charities throughout her life supporting the March of Dimes, Disabled American Veterans, Girls and Boys Town, Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Christian Appalachian Project, Easter Seals, American Breast Cancer Foundation, St. Joseph’s Indian School, and others. She was the strength of the family and was a wonderful role model for everyone.
She is survived by her five sons and three daughters. Sons: Gilbert (Irene) Meza, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Daniel (Juanita) Meza of Corpus Christi, Texas, David (Viola) Meza of Woodsboro, Texas, Eduardo Meza of Port Isabel, Texas and Robert (Criselda) Meza of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Daughters: Leonor (David) Meza Hartley of Hitchcock, Texas, Sandra Meza Ritchie of Refugio, Texas, and Patricia (Martin) Meza Guajardo of Corpus Christi, Texas. Brothers Miguel (Rosemary) Pro of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rogelio Pro of San Antonio, Texas, and Noe (Bianca) Pro of McAllen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Museums of Port Isabel, 317 E. Railroad Ave. Port Isabel, Texas 78578 in honor of Mrs. Leonor Pro Meza. Mrs. Meza looked forward to the exhibits, events and festivals that the Museums had offered throughout the years.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at Cage Mills Funeral Directors Chapel, 4901 Everhart Rd, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Thursday June 4, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 710 S 19th St, Corpus Christi, Texas with internment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
