

Lydia Gonzales of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at age 88 with her family at her bedside on February 12, 2025. Lydia was born in Sandia, Texas, on July 30, 1936, to Martin & Santos Gonzales. A graduate of Orange Grove High School, Lydia lived her adult life in the Flour Bluff neighborhood of Corpus Christi.
Lydia was the sweetest loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We are all better for having had her in our life. Lydia was a strong lady with a fiery spirit who dedicated her life to serving her family.
Lydia is reunited with her late husband of sixty-one years, Pablo Gonzales. She is survived by her five children, Pablo Gonzales, Jr. (late Moe Ladewig), Magdalena Powell (Blake), Rodolfo Gonzales (Lisa), Leandro Gonzales (Rose Lozano) and Gloria Valdivia (Jamie); grandchildren, Jennifer Barnard, Justin Barnard, Helen Gonzales, John Michael Gonzales, Alexander Valdivia, Zachary Valdivia, Corri Gonzales, Ally Miller, Reed Powell, Madison Powell, Esperanza Lozano, and Eric Lozano; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters, and treasured friends.
Services for Lydia will be begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. A Funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 25, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Rite of Committal and graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery
The Pallbearers will be Gilbert Gonzalez, Ray Gonzalez, Roberto Gonzales, Librado Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales, Justin Barnard, John Michael Gonzales, and Alexander Valdivia. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Jones and Zachary Valdivia.
We cannot yet imagine a world without Lydia in it, but we can imagine the amazing welcome she had in heaven. Heaven has suddenly gotten a little brighter. Lydia’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
