Jim cherished his yearly Easter celebrations with family, which he hosted for 35 years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid bird watcher. He also loved to read, his favorite authors were James Paterson and John Grishom.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Sallie Nelson, his brother's Ralph and Buddy Nelson, and sister Cathy Byer.
Jim is survived by his longtime companion, Hazel Graham; his two daughters, Lorie Hiltabiddle, Julie Collins; his grandchildren, Malana Parrish, Courtney and Hunter Collins, Sonja Dosher; his siblings, Andy Nelson, Pat Nelson-Walrod, Adrienne Heuer, Judy Stuckey, and many loved nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends for a visitation Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX. 78415. Funeral Service will also be held on August 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
