She was married to Manuel Canales Jr. on December 3, 1967 and had a son, Michael.
Maria graduated from West Oso High School in 1965. She attended and graduated from Del Mar College and went on to work for Headstart for 25 years and Driscoll Hospital Learning Center for 5 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, long walks along the bay front and aerobics with her friends, whom she considered her sisters. She enjoyed traveling and playing in casinos.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Rogelio and Julia Luna and brother, Richard Luna.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Manuel; son, Michael and daughter-in-law Candace; brothers, Rogelio Jr. and Robert and sister, Raquel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Rd. from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 pm that same evening.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 3350 S Alameda St. at 10:00 am.
Inurnment will take place at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, at a later date.
