

Mary was born in El Campo, Texas on February 15, 1930. She was the only child of William and Dora Redwine. The family lived in El Campo until 1942. Mary attended Menger Elementary School, Wynn Seal Jr. High and Corpus Christi High School where she graduated in 1948. She also attended Del Mar Jr. College for two years and graduated with an Associates of Arts degree.
A devoted wife, Mary married the love of her life, Roy Monroe Hurt in 1954, She was predeceased by her parents and her husband. Mary is survived by her son Jon Kevin Hurt and his wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, daughter Nancy Hurt and her husband Tommy Cahal of San Antonio, and grandsons Bailey Killian and Roy M. Hurt of Corpus Christi.
Mary was active in scouting programs serving as Den Mother for many years in Boy Scouts and as Troop Leader in Girl Scouts. Mary was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for 20 years.
Mary worked for the City of Corpus Christi Gas Department where she met her husband Roy; Phillips Petroleum Company; and the Oil Industries Log Library until she retired in 1989. Mary always enjoyed a good joke and a cigarette.
In retirement, Mary and her daughter traveled the world. She was also an avid reader and artist.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cage Mills Funeral Directors on Everhart. Entombment will be private.
