

Ramon Barrera Hinojosa, 86, of Corpus Christi was called home by the Lord on December 14, 2025. He was born on February 10, 1939, to Juan and Frances Hinojosa. Ramon joined the military before graduating high school. In 2013, he was one of the honored veterans recognized at the Roy Miller High School graduation for their service before completing high school; he received his diploma and walked the stage that year. Ramon served a combined total of 33 years in the U.S. military, serving nine years in the U.S. Air Force and 24 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked at the CC Army Depot as a jet engine tester until his retirement. After retiring, he kept busy by working as a security guard for multiple locations in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was a proud U.S. Veteran, husband, father, grandpa, and "tata." He married his childhood sweetheart, Julia Villarreal Hinojosa, on February 27, 1960. During their 65 years of marriage, they raised three daughters: Frances (Edward) Ortiz, Debra (Mark) Johnson, and Beatrice (Daniel) Villarreal. He was proud and blessed to help raise his seven grandchildren: Joshua (Katja) Ortiz, Elijah (Veronica) Ortiz, Daniel (Analisa) Villarreal, Ashley Reid, Julia (James) Lail, Reena Reid, and Jonathan (Emily) Villarreal. He was proud to spoil his nine great-grandchildren: Isaiah Ortiz, Paige Lail, Leah Ortiz, Zooey Aleman, Hannah Ortiz, Maya Villarreal, Ezekiel Lail, Aerilynn Villarreal, and Sebastain Ortiz, all of whom will miss him greatly.
He will be remembered as a loving and strong Christian. He was a member of Weber Road Church of Christ and a former member of both Norton Street and Ayres Street Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Frances Hinojosa; his brother, Eddie Hinojosa; and his sister, Martina Salas. Ramon is survived by his loving wife, Julia Hinojosa; his daughters; his brothers, Juan (Mary) Hinojosa, Ismael Hinojosa, Reynaldo (Mary) Hinojosa of San Antonio, Texas, and Ricky Hinojosa; his sister, Mary Martinez; and his sister-in-law, Syliva Hinojosa, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
