

He was married to Maria Rangel Benavidez on August 14, 1944. Rene worked in Berry Contract INC. He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers and was well known for his cigars, cowboy’s hats, cowboy boots, ranch and love for his children.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria Rangel Benavidez; and his children: Anita Benavidez, Rene (MaryAnn) Benavidez, Jr., Marguerite (Jose) Smith, Robert Benavidez, Rudolfo Castro, Lodubico (Christine) Castro, Jr., and Eulogio Castro as well as his siblings.
Rene is survived by his children: Gloria (Jesus Sr.) Jasso, Elva (Modesto) Zavala, Beatrice B. Trevino, Marilynn B. Verduzco, Larry (Susan) Benavidez and Hortencia (Robert) Keiser; he also leaves behind to cherish his memories, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his companion, Margarita V. Cade.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.
Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10:00 am at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with Entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
