Robert Anaya, also known as Bob, entered into the arms of Our Lord on April 11, 2026 at the age of 66. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 13, 1959 to parents, Juanita Beda Salinas, and Miguel M. Anaya Jr. Bob was a man who lived life on his own terms, with a spirit that was both independent and deeply rooted in love for his family.
As the oldest of six children, Robert naturally carried a sense of responsibility, even as he carved out his own path in life. He was known for being a bit of a rebel, someone who moved to the rhythm of his own beat and embraced a more alternative way of living. Yet beneath that free-spirited exterior was a kind and caring man who held a deep love for his people.
In his younger years, Robert worked as a farmer in Chapman Ranch, where he developed a strong work ethic and connection to the land. He later went on to build a long and dedicated career with the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, where he worked for several years before retiring. Robert found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed getting out for breakfast, especially the special tradition he shared with his mother—regular mornings spent together at Acapulco, a ritual that became a meaningful and cherished part of his life. He also had a softer side, often unwinding with movies on the Hallmark Channel, appreciating the comfort and familiarity they brought.
Family meant everything to Robert. He was a devoted father to his daughters and a proud grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had a playful spirit, often pulling the kids close, creating moments of laughter and connection that will be remembered for years to come. He was also a deeply loved uncle, someone his nieces and nephews looked up to as a strong and caring presence, always showing up for the important moments and milestones in their lives.
Though he walked his own path, Robert’s life was guided by love—love for his family, his traditions, and the relationships that mattered most.
Bob will be reunited in heaven with his father, Miguel Anaya Jr., brother-in-law, Daniel Chavez Jr., Rick Rivera, and Levi Gallegos; nephew, Joe Richard Rangel Jr., and brothers in heart, Charles Barrientez and Amadeo Barrientez.
Robert’s memory will forever live on in his daughters, Mary Ann Anaya (Jessica Garcia), Mandii Anaya (Javier Rocha), and Erica Monique Barrientez; former wife, Carol Anaya, mother, Juanita S. Anaya; siblings, Patricia Gallegos, Sylvia Rangel , Hilda Rivera, Laura Chavez, and Miguel Anaya III. Grandchildren, Mia, Richard, Kiarah, Aaron, Niyonna, Alanna, Jordan, Romeo, Cherish, Majesty, Legend, and Grace; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kyler “Bubba”; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He will be remembered for his unique spirit, his quiet kindness, and the genuine way he cared for those around him.
