

He was born on March 26, 1947, in Houston, Harris County, Texas to Robert Rayburn Startzell and Jacqueline (Zinn) Startzell. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Carroll Startzell; daughter, Rhonda Startzell (Mark) Kubala; sons, Randall Scott (Tosha) Startzell, and Robert Rayburn (Danielle) Startzell, III; grandchildren, Kolton Reid (Alexis) Kubala, Maisie Kubala, Malorie Kubala, Troy Ball, Lainee Gaspard, Gage Randall Startzell, and Lillian Jean Startzell; great-grandson, Reid Sawyer Kubala; and nieces and nephews, Sherri (McDonald) Huston, Mark McDonald, Debra (VanZandt) Carroll, David Carroll, Darin Carroll, Trea Carroll,Tracy Carroll, Julie Duet, Robin Anne, Johnny Lauer, Jana (Edwards) Lauer, Joyce Ann Wilson, Johnny Wade Wilson, Jimmie Wilson, Jr., Christi Wilson, Calvin Wilson, Elizabeth (Anderson) Wilson, Jason Carroll, and Curtis Carroll.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rayburn Startzell; mother, Jacqueline Zinn Startzell; and sister, Barbara Startzell McDonald.
His life was filled with dedication to his work as a Commercial Construction Estimator, where he spent over 40 years designing and implementing solutions that made a difference in multiple communities. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, steady work ethic, and the generosity he extended to colleagues and friends alike.
He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War, demonstrating honor, patriotism, and a quiet strength that he carried into every part of his life. His sense of duty and commitment to service will never be forgotten.
Above all, he was unwavering in his devotion to family and friends. He was the kind of person who always showed up—whether to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer support when it mattered most. Those closest to him will forever cherish his kindness, loyalty, and deep love. He never met a stranger.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at Memory Garden Funeral Home and Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78415. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at Journey Church, 12150 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410
