Robert G. Salinas was born in Agua Dulce, Texas, on July 12, 1943. He passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026. Robert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anna Salinas; his son Robert Alvaro (Janiece) Salinas, his grandchildren, Serenity, Brayden, Jordin and Julianna; his brothers, Octavio (Tavo) Salinas from Alice, Texas, Raul Salinas from Rockville, Maryland, and Adalberto (Elvia) Salinas from Laredo, Texas; his sisters-in-law, Catarina (Robert) Hasdorff from Austin, Texas, and Yolanda Mancias from Odem, Texas; and a brother-in-law, Malcolm Matthews from Houston, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Octavio and Dora G. Salinas; his sisters, Petrita and her husband, Baldemar Silva and Lucilla (Ralph) DeLeon; his brothers, Pascual (Chico) Salinas and his wife, Lydia, Seferino (Chaca) Salinas, Eliud (YuYo) Salinas; his parents-in-law, Diego and Angelita C. Mancias; his brothers-in law, Juan and his wife, Angelita G. Mancias, and Martin Mancias; his sisters-in-law, Elida Salinas, Maggie Matthews and Virginia and her husband Frank Chapa.
When a rancher like Robert Salinas gets to heaven, he tips his hat as he is greeted at the Pearly Gates. God knows that he is welcoming in a special gentleman with true characteristics that are built with the strong foundation for faith, family, work ethics, standing up for injustices, all while displaying a keen sense of humor.
Robert served in the United States Army, and it was a uniform that he wore with honor, dignity, and respect. His years of service emphasized self-reliance, integrity, hard work, and perseverance. All of these qualities then led him to a career as a postal employee for over 37 years of Postal Service. Robert was a responsible and reliable employee who loved his job and was successful with his duties.
If you were to ask God what He is most proud of Robert’s accomplishments, it would be the love he had for family and for others. He was the first one at the hospital when someone was sick, needed a ride, or needed help. Robert always had a duty to serve others so he volunteered and served in organizations such as Community Action, American GI Forum, and Lulac. He stood alongside Dr. Hector P. Garcia and the American G.I. Forum when fighting against discrimination in the workplace and helped inspire humanity. As they say: “You never meet a stranger;” and Robert never did. He maintained many friendships over the years, and he often ran into someone who greeted him with a hug and a handshake wherever he went.
Family meant everything to Robert. He was committed, loyal and humble, always being there in time of need. There was no sacrifice too difficult when it came to family and friends. He made the time and gave his energy to being a wonderful husband, devoted father, grandfather, compassionate brother, uncle, loyal friend, and role model. You knew he loved you by his kind-hearted actions. He solidified his love by making you love his corny dad jokes that made you laugh. He had a knack for knowing every restaurant in Corpus Christi.
Rancho Viejo 3 Salinas was Robert’s pride and joy. It was a place away from home that allowed him to relish in his adventurous outdoor demeanor. He shared this with his beloved wife and ranch hand, Anna. Numerous memories have been created at the ranch with the next generation of his precious son. Robert (Alvaro), and his loving grandchildren. He was an angel here on earth who now has his rightful place in heaven.

Pallbearers will be Adalberto Salinas, Sr., Martin Silva, Ralph de Leon, Aaron Martinez, David Hasdorff, Adalberto Salinas, Jr., Alejandro Almendarez and David Salinas.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2026, at Funeraria del Angel, 4901 Everhart Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas, followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. 5830 Williams Dr., also in Corpus Christi. Burial will be after mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.
