Ronald G. Marlow

Ronald G. Marlow, 78, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away October 1, 2013. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and came to San Antonio, Texas, in 1949. Ron graduated from St. Anthony’s Seminary High School in San Antonio, received his B.A. in Philosophy, and the equivalent of Master of Divinity in Theology from what is now the Oblate School of Theology. Ron was ordained as Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate September 8, 1961, at the San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas. He taught at St. Anthony’s Seminary and served in parishes in Aurora, Colorado, and Midland, Del Rio, Port Isabel and Brownsville, Texas, as well as in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca until he resigned. He met and married Beatriz Saenz.

He continued his service work as a counselor for the Texas Commission for the Blind for a period of 12 years, after which he retired.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Marlow.

He is survived by his wife Beatriz, his son Ronnie, his daughter Mari and her husband David Pena, his sister Sandy Monson, his niece Cindy Furlong and her husband Kevin Furlong, his nephew Don Christy, great niece and nephew Samantha and Spencer Christy, and his grandchildren Charley and Dylon Pena. He also leaves behind members of the Martin, De Pena, Vera, Saenz, Long and Sanchez families and many friends.

He leaves a legacy of great love and compassion. He will be remembered for his smile and his friendliness; he knew no strangers. He had the special gift of making everyone feel unconditional acceptance. His positive attitude and his faith comforted many. He will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday October 4, 2013, at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly at 342 Holly Road. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, October 5 a Most Precious Blood Church on Saratoga for a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. Church doors will open at 10:30 a.m.
