Ruby Mae Gates

Ruby Mae Stallcup Gates (Grandmother), age 82, of Trafford, AL passed away and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 24, 2024. The daughter of Irvin Sam and Clara (Pullin) Stallcup. She was born in Rockport, Texas and raised in the Calallen area of Corpus Christi, Texas. Ruby was a 1961 graduate of Calallen High School. She moved to the Birmingham, AL area in 2017 to live with her son. Ruby worked for the Corpus Christi Water Department for 20+ years. She enjoyed going to church and loved horses.

Ruby was preceded by her parents; and brother, Mack Stallcup. She is survived by her sisters, Berta Lee Boyle and Barbara Borden; four children, Buford (Ernie) E. Gates, Jr. (Stephanie), Tisa Cole (Leslie) of Victoria, TX, Debrena Lightfoot of Corpus Christi, TX, and Lesha Bryant (Travis) of San Antonio, TX; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations in her name to Samaritans Purse/Operation Christmas Child or your local horse rescue.

Visitation will be at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm; Funeral Service to be held at 2:00 pm, with Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
