Rudy was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was the eldest son of Nicanor and Delfina Gonzales.
He was a 1975 graduate of Roy Miller High School and a proud member of the Battlin' Buc Show Band. In his youth, he worked as a grain inspector at the Corpus Christi Grain Elevator and enlisted to serve in the U.S. Army. Later in life, he gained valuable skills in automotive and small machinery repair.
Rudy was an outspoken, free-spirited man who lived his life without fear of consequence. He had a desire to live life on the edge and loved having a good time.
Rudy also had a love for cooking, a passion he inherited from his mother, and an uncanny knack for fixing things, which he undoubtedly gained from his dad. Classic rock, sideburns and fast driving were his timeless trademarks, as was the clinking of his keys. For those who knew him well, his endless conversations, joking nature, and love of laughter will be amongst his greatest qualities that will be dearly missed.
Rudy is preceded in death by his mother, Delfina M. Gonzales, and is survived by his greatest pride, his son, Adam Gonzales, daughter-in-law, Eva, granddaughter, Alisseya, and his father, Nicanor Gonzales. He also leaves behind three siblings, Gloria Bernal, Ruben (Elizabeth) Gonzales, and Irene Kaesberg, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Don't grieve for me, for now, I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call.
I turned my back and left it all.
