

She was born on April 11, 1935 to J.E. Gaither and Lenora Sowell Sherman in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Shirley was a member of the fraternal order of the Eagles Auxiliary since 1966 and held many offices including District president. She was also a member of the American Legion #364 Auxiliary.
Shirley was a homemaker and bookkeeper at Memorial Hospital for over 20 years.
Over the years Shirley loved and collected clowns. Her hobbies included dancing, crafts, South Texas trail rides, and harmonizing with her sister.
Shirley became catholic and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Violet, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Sandra Marvis.
She is survived by her husband, Pat McDonough, Jr., daughters, Rhonda Driver, of Duvall, WA., Shirl Magana of Marysvill, WA., Kathleen McKinney of Corpus Christi; one sister, Phyllis Albers (Henry) of Portland, Texas, niece, Dona Scott, special nephew, Walter Norman Nichols; three step-daughters, Marcie Taylor, Michele McDonough and Shannon Taylor; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one very special grandson, Colton Taylor.
Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Violet, Texas with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are all members of the fraternal order of the Eagles Auxiliary Men and Women, and American Legion #364 Auxiliary Men and Women.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 3918 County Road 61, Robstown, Texas 78380 or American Diabetes Association.
