Tomas P. Solis Jr.

Tomas P. Solis, Jr. passed away on June 28, 2012 at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Edingburg, Texas on July 25, 1937 to Tomas Solis, Sr. and Julia Pena. Tomas was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia P. Contreras; wife, Carmen A. Solis; and daughter, Esther Solis.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Patricia Solis, Tomas Solis III, Minerva (Keith) Stevens, Marco (Irma) Solis, and Laura (Kris) Solis-Halliday (granddaughter raised as a daughter); 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Luis (Dora) Contreras, Peter (Mary) Contreras, Juan Contreras, Linda Hinojosa, Angelica (Pete) Garza, and Margarito (Guadalupe) Solis; brother-in-law, Joe (Harriett) Alvarado. Tomas is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that evening. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
