Virginia A. Cantu

great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, Virginia A. Cantu, who was called to be with the

Lord on June 1, 2025, at the age of 94.

Born on March 15, 1931, Virginia lived life as a giving woman full of love and laughter. She was a

hard worker employed by Mr. and Mrs. Weil as a nanny and housekeeper for 35 years. She was

known for her vibrant spirit, warm heart, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy is one

of laughter, music, and storytelling-bringing family together through dance, jokes, home-cooked

meals, and the thrill of a good scary story. She brought warmth and laughter to every gathering.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Abel Cantu, her father Dioniso Alvarez, her mother

Manuela Sanchez and several dear family members. She is survived by her children Bertha (Ruben)

Garza, Antonio (Elva) Cantu, San Juanita (the late Gerardo) Figueroa, her loving sister Teresa

Rivera, 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great grandchildren and many extended

family and friends who will miss her deeply.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 with a holy rosary at 7:00 PM. A continued visitation will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 9:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a funeral service at 10:00 AM. A burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
