Yolanda Benavides

Yolanda was born to Gilberto & Maria Garcia Sr. on February 22, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas.

She married David Benavides Sr. in 1962 and resided in her home in Corpus Christi, Texas since 1966. Yolanda was well known for her delicious homemade meals, baking and sewing blankets. She was a wonderful person who was always there for anyone.

Yolanda is preceded in death by her late husband, David “Popo” Benavides Sr.; parents, Gilberto & Maria Garcia Sr.; brothers, Lauro Garcia Sr., and Roberto Garcia Sr.; son-in-law, Richard Martinez.

Yolanda is survived by her children, Herlinda (Richard) Martinez, Diana Benavidez, Belinda (Rick) Lopez, David Benavides Jr. and Irma B. Avalos; 11 Grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great -grandchildren; brother, Dr. Gilberto Garcia Jr.; and sister, Oralia Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone who’s been so supportive throughout this time. Especially her hospice nurse, Cindy Hindman, and her CNA ,Janie Puentes from Aeon Home Care and Hospice. They did a great job! Yolanda will be deeply missed but knowing she’s reunited with her husband to spend and enjoy eternal love eases our hearts.

A public visitation for Yolanda will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 with a holy rosary to occur 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
