Lillian A. Collins

Superior Mother Lillian Abigail Collins, age 97, of Coshocton Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1991 Otsego Ave., Coshocton, Ohio 43812, departed this life on December 11, 2016, after an extended illness.

She was born on February 19, 1919 in Leary (Calhoun County) GA, to Brother William and Senior Mother Viola Collins. She was one of a family of 12 children, six boys and six girls. The family moved to Warren, Ohio in 1923. She attended school in Trumbull County and spent her childhood there.

Superior Mother Lillian Abigail Collins was a member of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob of the United States of America for 85 years.

She began her spiritual life as a missionary in the ministry at a young age. She was a very good Sunday school student and soon became an evangelist and moved up through the ranks of the church. She was a very good public speaker, endeavoring to teach others about the ways and plans of Jesus Christ. Over the years she held many offices and positions in the church and the auxiliaries. She was a member of the first Bible School graduation class of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob on October 26, 1958 in Bethlehem Twp., Ohio.

She had many other talents. She was an excellent seamstress and employed by the church making religious garments for over 25 years. She was also an excellent food canner and an avid rose gardener. She received many certificates and awards over her lifetime.

She is survived by one brother, Supreme Bishop J. Daniel Collins, and one sister, Superior Mother Bertilla Collins of Coshocton, Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First Tabernacle of The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob. Burial will follow at Machpelah Burial Acres. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Superior Mother Collins’s name to The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob Church, P. O. Box 310, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
