

R. Wayne Light, 73, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, with his wife by his side. He was born October 20, 1952 to the late Robert “Bob” W. and June E. (Lee) Light.
On September 8, 1979, Wayne married the love of his life, Cindy M. (McNichols) Light, who survives him.
Wayne was a 1971 Coshocton High School Graduate. He worked as a Professional Land Surveyor for The Coshocton Land Surveying Service and Buckeye Land Surveying before finding a career in coal mining with the Oxford Mining Company. He retired in November of 2018 from B & N Coal Company.
He was a member of the Dresden Masonic Lodge #103, F. & A.M., The Thirty-Second Degree Scottish Rite; Valley of Cambridge, The Columbus Aladdin Shriners, and The Coshocton Elks Lodge #376.
Wayne had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He was incredibly loyal, and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed racing, trivia, and Cleveland sports. He loved to drive, and was known to hop in a car and take off driving, especially when his boys were young. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Light of Coshocton, as well as his sons, Brandon W. (Kelsey Troy) Light of Austin, Texas and Kyle A. (Kylie Cassidy) Light of Columbus, Ohio; his sisters, Judith (Dave) Erwin of Alabama and Ruthanna (Hayden) Daliere of Walhonding, Ohio; and his special cousin, Tom Ellis of Tennessee; alongside several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his aunt, Barbara Jane Light.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, both at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Deacon Doug Mould officiating. Burial will be held at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
