

Richard was born in Coshocton County on January 24, 1932 to the late Lewis and Gertrude (Brokaw) Walker. Richard graduated in the West Lafayette High School class of 1950 and then went on to join the United States Navy for the next 3 years. On June 17, 1956, he married Francis L. Appis who preceded him in death on February 15, 2006. Richard’s favorite hobbies included working on puzzles and painting ceramics.
Richard is survived by his son, Timothy (Joanne) Walker, two daughters, Diana (Michael) Cox and Jana (Kenneth) Savage, nine grandchildren: Jason (Sandi) Walker, Kyle Savage, Kanessha Cox, Austin Savage, Will Walker, Gabe Walker, Katie Walker, Jeremy (Stephanie) Savage, and Amanda (Travis) Smith; seven great-grandchildren: Tyler Walker, Madison Walker, Jaycie Savage, Abigail Walker, Kamryn Savage, Nathan Walker, and Raegan Savage; two sisters, Myra Colton and Evelyn (Gene) Maurer, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Walker.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lloyd Tenney officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens with the Coshocton County Veterans Council performing military honors.
